Every year, Earth Day is celebrated all over the planet on April 22nd. To mark the occasion we would like to share some positive photos with you. Our images from around the world illustrate people's efforts to live sustainably, take part in rallies, promote renewable energy and give a glimpse of the biodiversity we need to protect.

This year Earth Day focuses on climate change, aiming to mobilise people to encourage world leaders to pass a binding climate change treaty. If these photos inspire you to protect our planet, join the movement.

A worker harvests palm fruits at the Netapti palm oil farm, in Eyang village. The farm - which covers nine hectares of land - is well maintained and very productive, selling to local markets and larger buyers. They completely sustain themselves and recycle most of the materials used during the production process.

Portrait of Paul Joy, small-scale fisher from Hastings, East Sussex, UK. All over the globe, fish stocks are in an alarming state due to overfishing by large and destructive fishing fleets. A change from destructive to low impact fishing methods (like those used by Paul) is the only real solution to the challenge of overfishing.

Massive investment in wind power will help China overcome its reliance on climate destroying fossil fuel power and solve its energy supply problem.
