VW Darkside action

Do you remember the recent rumours that VW’s new Golf 7 would be a green car for the mass market?

Well as we expected, it was too good to be true – there is no green Golf. Not because VW can’t make a green Golf - they easily could, by applying existing efficiency technologies as we explain in our report (pdf).

So today, as our Arctic ice caps continue to melt, our VW Darkside rebellion returns. We’ve launched a photo petition calling on VW to clean up its act. You can take action by adding your photo and message to VW, too.

For years, VW’s huge PR machine has been working to convince consumers how VW are a friend of the environment. However, the truth says otherwise - the company never intended to put their money where their mouth was.

More than 500.000 people around the world have already joined our battle with VW. Our demands are clear: VW must act now to make its cars more fuel efficient – by making their cars kinder to the climate and by supporting CO2 cuts in Europe.

If all the new Golf 7s due to be made were truly green, they would help save over 0,4 million tons of CO2 per year. That’s over 4 million tons over the course of the car’s average shelf life and is equal to the annual emissions of a coal fired power plant.

Join the return of the Jedi and tell VW to go green!
