Welcome to the new website!

Redesigned, restructured, rebuilt, relaunched – the new www.greenpeace.org.uk is here! After years of faithful service, our old (and somewhat creaky) website has been retired, and we've launched this shiny new site instead. Here's a quick overview of the new site (visit our guide for more in-depth stuff):

Finding your way around
We’ve changed the navigation, improved the search and added "tagging" to help you find what you’re interested in more easily. Hopefully, the navigation menu on the left of the page is self-explanatory but, if you need help finding something, check the new site guide. There's also a new and improved search, and you'll also see "tags" at the bottom of all blog entries like this one; just click on a word or phrase to see other pages on the same subject - and check out the most popular tags on the site.

The blog

The news stories of old have been replaced by a blog, which is where we'll be posting all of our updates, action alerts, thoughts and news from now on. In short, the newest entry will always be at the top of the blog page, you’ll be able to see who wrote what and, if you register, you'll be able to comment on what you read. (We didn't want to throw away the news stories we've written over the years, so we've archived them in the blog for reference – but, from now on, entries will be a bit different.) See about the blog for more.

Getting involved
Our main reason for building a new site was to develop a thriving community of online activists, and to make it easier for those who want to get involved to do so. As well as our cyber actions, you’ll now be able to comment on blogs, help us get the word out through social networking sites (those funny icons at the bottom of most pages) and stay better informed through our new RSS feeds. There are more changes afoot - watch this space.

Updated
The old site evolved pretty much organically over several years – we like organic but it was getting out of hand (and very out of date). So we've started the campaign information pages from scratch to make sure all the information on the site is up-to-date and relevant. We're still working on getting more background information online so please bear with us over the next few weeks. If you can't find a page you're looking for that you know was on the old site, drop us a line and we'll try to dig it out for you.

Intellectual property
As well as moving over to an open source content management platform (Drupal), we've also changed the copyright on the site to a Creative Commons "some rights reserved" license, meaning you have more freedom in how you copy and use the writing on the site.

Now the launch is over, we’re looking forward to getting on with what we're really here for: campaigning to defend the natural world and promote peace. But first, excuse us as we pop a cork of fine champagne, and raise a glass to everybody who’s helped get the website up and running - especially Rob of Important Projects, Echoditto who built the site, BiroCreative who designed it, and Rackspace who host it.

Cheers - let us know what you think and (more importantly) get involved!

Thanks Rob :-)
